Overview #
Giant Excavator Pit is a large desert monument dominated by massive industrial machinery and steel framework. The structure rises high above the surrounding terrain, making it visible from a significant distance.
At the center of the site is the enormous working excavator machine. When powered, it mines resources directly from the ground and deposits them at designated collection points within the monument.
Scientists patrol the compound.
Layout #
The monument is built around the excavation machinery and includes several industrial platforms and surrounding structures.
Key areas include:
- Main Excavator: The central machine where diesel fuel is inserted and the digger is started.
- Resource Selection Arm: Control section used to choose which material is mined.
- Resource Drop-Off Points: Two collection areas where mined materials are deposited.
- Mini Excavator: Smaller machinery located within the compound.
- Train Station Access: Rail connection near the monument.
- Gravel Pile: Ground-level industrial area.
- Cliff Overlook: Elevated terrain beside the monument.
- Upper Framework / Highest Platforms: Climbable metal structures above the digger.
The monument is very open, with multiple levels accessible via ladders, stairs, and industrial framework.
Loot #
Giant Excavator Pit contains:
- Military crates
- Brown and component crates
- Barrels across ground level
- Diesel fuel spawns
- Scientist drops
In addition to crate loot, the main value of this monument comes from operating the excavator itself.
Operating the Excavator #
To begin mining:
- Insert Diesel Fuel into the fuel tank located on the Main Excavator.
- Activate the start control.
- Use the Resource Selection Arm to choose the material to extract.
The excavator can mine:
- Sulfur ore
- Metal ore
- High quality metal ore
- Stone
Once running, materials are automatically deposited at the two drop-off areas inside the monument for collection.
