Arctic Research Base

Overview

Arctic Research Base is a compact monument located in the snow biome, usually positioned toward the outer edges of the map. The entire area is covered in snow and ice, with industrial buildings clustered together inside a fenced research compound.

Despite its smaller footprint, the monument contains a high concentration of loot spread across multiple structures. It is also the only scientific monument that includes a recycler and the only location where snowmobiles naturally spawn.

Scientists patrol the area, dressed in winter camouflage suits.

Layout

The monument consists of several connected buildings and exterior structures within a contained compound.

Key areas include:

• Main Research Buildings: Interior rooms containing crates, fuel spawns, and card access points.
• Propane Storage / Low Grade Areas: Sections where low grade fuel commonly spawns.
• Recycler Area: Located within the compound.
• Wind Turbines: Positioned around the site and visible from a distance.
• Train Tunnel Access: Rail connection near the monument.
• Card Rooms: Blue Card access rooms, one of which contains a snowmobile spawn.
• Entrances: Access points into the compound depending on map orientation.

The layout is compact, making it easy to move between buildings while looting.

Loot

Arctic Research Base typically contains:

• Military crates
• Brown and component crates
• Large amounts of low grade fuel
• Food spawns
• A Blue Card room with Red Card access
• Recycler access

Low grade fuel is one of the most consistent and abundant resources found at this monument.

Snowmobiles

#

Arctic Research Base is the only monument where snowmobiles spawn naturally.

To access them, a Blue Card is required to enter the secured rooms. One of the Blue Card rooms contains a snowmobile, while the other typically contains a Red Card.

There are two visual variants of the snowmobile:

• Tomaha version
• Post-apocalyptic “Tin Can” version

Both versions function the same. They:

• Start with 20 low grade fuel
• Have 12 storage slots
• Two-seat capacity
• Have 300 HP
• Consume approximately 9 fuel per minute while running

Snowmobiles perform well in snow and desert biomes, making them useful for fast travel across cold regions and beyond.
