The North Island

Warm. Lively. Suspiciously well-armed.

North Island overview

The North Island is where most visitors begin their NZ8K adventure. Home to major cities, famous landmarks, scenic coastlines and some of the map's most recognisable locations.

Auckland Sky Tower
Auckland - The City of Sails

Auckland - The City of Sails

Auckland dominates the upper North Island and serves as one of the most recognisable locations on the map. The famous Sky Tower rises above the skyline just like the real thing - except this one comes with a build spot inside the top section.

Yes. You can live in the Sky Tower. Yes, that is absolutely as good as it sounds.

Top tip: The views from up top are worth the climb.

Featured Attractions

  • Sky Tower (buildable!)
  • City Centre
  • Coastal Views
  • Northern Transport Routes
Recommended stay: Until the recycler runs dry.
Wellington Beehive
Wellington - Harbour City

Wellington - The Capital Experience

Situated on a beautiful natural harbour, Wellington offers visitors a completely different experience. Home to the iconic Beehive - a faithful replica of New Zealand's parliament building - the capital is one of the map's standout destinations.

Claim the top of parliament as your base and rule over the capital. The little house next door? You can move right in.

Wellington. Windy. Wonderful. Yours if you want it.

Featured Attractions

  • The Beehive
  • Wellington Harbour
  • Coastal Walkways
  • Nearby Outpost
Recommended stay: Until somebody asks awkward questions about property ownership.

The South Island

For those who prefer their holidays off the beaten track.

South Island mountains
The South Island - Wilderness & Remote Escapes

Wilderness, Scenery and Remote Escapes

If the North Island is where travellers go to be seen, the South Island is where they go to disappear.

Towering mountain ranges, winding rivers, dense forests and expansive coastlines make this one of the most beautiful regions on the entire map. Far less foot traffic than the north, and enough space to build without anyone breathing down your neck.

Somewhere amongst these landscapes lie three hidden build locations waiting to be discovered. No signs. No tour guides. Finding them is part of the experience.
Stewart Island
Stewart Island - Southern Retreat

Stewart Island

Small, remote and surrounded by water. An ideal retreat for travellers seeking peace, privacy and a slower pace of life.

Chatham Islands
Chatham Islands - Worth the Journey

Chatham Islands

Just a hop, skip and a boat ride from the mainland. Remote, scenic, and well worth the journey. The views make it worthwhile.

Australian Outback
Australia - Venture into the Outback

Australia - Venture Into The Outback

Many visitors focus on New Zealand. Experienced travellers know there is another destination waiting just across the water.

The Australian Outback offers a dramatically different experience from the green landscapes of NZ. Expect vast deserts, remote roads, and some of the most rugged environments on the entire map.

Fuel stations are scarce. Help is often further away than it appears. Preparation is essential.

Our Aussie players will be pleased to know that a full AU map - with NZ along as the smaller neighbour this time - is firmly on the wishlist. BMGJET, we know you are reading this.

Oil Rig and ocean
